The Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) regulates vocational education and training (VET) in Australia, ensuring the VET courses and training delivery meet the standards set out in legislation.
Some of ASQA’s responsibilities are to
- Check that organisations delivering training are registered
- Check that the trainers and assessors have current experience and qualifications
- Check that trainees (students) are trained long enough with adequate resources
- Check that assessments provide evidence of competency
- Check that students are fairly assessed by qualified, competent assessors
- Check that only students who provide evidence they are competent are given certificates of competence, and that only registered organisations give these certificates.
